JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT

What with hot weather, another vertigo attack etc. etc. I had lost my blogging mojo for a time and until it returns completely I thought I'd share a silly little poem with you.  Hopefully some of you will get a laugh out of it or even shed a tear if it hits you where it hurts....your wallet.  We are now too old and too poor to pay the tax man these days but we certainly paid our share over the years.  : )

TAXATION by Anonymous

Tax his land, tax his wage, tax the bed in which he lays;
Tax his tractor, tax his mule, teach him taxes are the rule.

Tax his cow, tax his goat, tax his pants and tax his coat;
Tax his ties, tax his shirts, tax his work, tax his dirt.

Tax his chew, tax his smokes, teach him taxes are no joke
Tax his car, tax his grass, tax the roads that he must pass.

Tax his food, tax his drink, tax him if he tries to think,
Tax his sodas, tax his beers and if he cries then tax his tears.

Tax his bills, tax his gas, tax his notes, tax his cash,
Tax him good and let him know that after taxes he has no dough.

If he hollers, tax him more; tax him till he's good and sore.
Tax his coffin, tax his grave, tax the sod in which he lays.

Put these words upon his tomb, "Taxes drove me to my doom!"
And when he's gone, we won't relax..we'll still be after inheritance tax.

  1. And I am so glad that we got rid of inheritance tax quite some time ago. Almost everything else? Still taxed.
    I am very sorry you had another vertigo attack - you must have hoped you had seen the last of them. Fingers crossed the specialist will have practical answers.

    1. I didn't have to worry about inheritance tax as I really didn't inherit anything of value so no worries there. Even though we don't pay the tax man direct we do of course still pay taxes on everything we do or consume etc so you can't beat them.
      Yes EC, I was disappointed with the return of the vertigo after just over 7 weeks without. This time it lasted for about 6 hours. I must ring and make an appt with the ENT chap...he said in 4 months so I guess early April. From what he said there is really no answer, practical or otherwise. We'll see.

  2. I hope the vertigo wasn't too bad, I get a teensy gone in a second dizzy feeling when I've been working too fast at the checkout and that's bad enough. I have to stop and remember to take a deep breath.
    I love the poem and I'm going to print it with your permission of course and show it to people at work.
    We just have to hope they don't start taxing our taxes, if that is at all possible.

    1. The vertigo is nasty and the nausea that comes with it. I don't get giddy...the room spins around and my legs won't let me walk. It's as though I am seasick or drunk with no control of my lower limbs. It is said the vertigo is caused by a problem in my inner ear, possibly Meniere's. Just another one of those little things that come to try us as we age.
      Of course you can print the poem. As I said it was labled as having been penned by anonymous so it's yours to do with as you will. I am just so glad you enjoyed it so much.
      Taxing our taxes? I'm not sure they don't do that already. :)
